On Farm Testing (OFT) Conducted
The main objective of OFT programs is to provide technology transfer on location specific problems to sustain the agriculture. This is done by testing a released technology under the real farm situations with the participation of farmers. Normally, OFTs are conducted for fine tuning of the technology under various farming situations for understanding its suitability in the farmer’s field. The real problems faced by the farmers are given back to the research team for further improvement and refinement. This programs ensures the reach of new and suitable technology to the farmers.
Following are the OFTs conducted by MGM KVK in the various adopted villages.

Description |
1 |
Effect of plant population on yield of BT Cotton |
Cotton is the main crop of the district, which occupies near about 4, 33,000 ha.area. Main problem identified is low plant population per hector which results in low yield. So, this OFT is planed with recommended spacing of 4’×1.5’ with farmers practice to show the effect of new technology. |
2 |
Integrated nutrient management in Maize |
Maize is the second important crop followed by cotton in the district which is grown on near about 1, 69,000 ha. Area. This is a heavy feeder crop which effect on soil fertility. So integrated nutrient management is important aspect in this crop. This OFT is planned to show the effect of recommended nutrient management by state agricultural university. |
3 |
Integrated pests and disease management in Ginger. |
Ginger is an important vegetable in the vicinity, to minimize the losses due to diseases and pests this experiment is planned. |
4 |
Management of fruit sucking moth in Sweet orange and Pomegranate. |
Sweet orange and Pomegranate are important fruit crops in this region which gives high productivity and large income. This OFT is planned to minimize incidence and losses due diseases and pests . |
5 |
Integrated pests and disease management in Redgram, |
Red gram is an important pulse crop in the region we did this experiment to minimize incidence and losses of diseases and pests. |
7 |
In-situ Sugarcane trash management |
Sugarcane is the main cash crop after cotton in adopted villages. As the organic matter content in soil is very low which results in low fertility. Burning of the trash after harvesting of sugarcane reduces the soil fertility instead it needs to be dumped in the soil to increase the nutrients of the soil. Hence, this OFT was planned to increase the organic carbon and fertility of soil by recycling of trash by In-situ sugarcane trash management. |

To study the effect of potassium application in Bengal gram in rainfed situation |
Bengalgram is one of the main pulse crop. Farmers use only nitrogen and phosphorus to the crop. As potassium is very important nutrient to develop water stress conditions and disease resistance in crop. Also Potassium helps in flowering and setting of pods in crop. Hence, OFT was planned to demonstrate the effect potassium application in Bengal gram in rainfed situation. |
9 |
Effect of Nitrobenzene on flowering in Pomegranate |
Nitrobenzene is recommended by NRC pomegranate, Solapur for improving and retention of female flowers in pomegranate. It increases no. of female flowers and fruit set thereby increasing yield by retaining more no. of female flowers. . Hence, OFT was planned to demonstrate the effect of Nitrobenzene on flowering in Pomegranate. |
10 |
Use of broad spectrum dewormer to overcome mortality in calves |
Worm load is a measure cause behind calf mortality and it is mostly neglected by the farmers. Hence it is conducted to demonstrate the use of broad spectrum dewormer |
11 |
Use of long acting inj. exnrofloxacin to cure pneumonia in kids |
Pneumonia is the measure cause of mortality in Goats and Kids, regular 3 days antibiotic therapy can save the life of kids, adopting regular antibiotic therapy is difficult at field level. Hence 1 day long acting exnrofloxacin to cure pneumonia in kids is planned. |
12 |
Use of clomephene citrate to induce heat in animals |
Infertile or anoestrus animals are financial load to farmers, the cheapest drug like clomephene citrate can bring the animal incyclicity. Hence Use of clomephene citrate to induce heat in animals is planned. |
13 |
Use of long acting inj exnrofloxacin to cure enteritis in calves |
Enteritis is the measure cause of mortality in Goats and Kids, regular 3 days antibiotic therapy can save the life of kids, adopting regular antibiotic therapy is difficult at field level. Hence 1 day long acting exnrofloxacin to cure pneumonia in kids is planned. |
14 |
Use of protein-energy rich dietary supplement Soy- poha laddu to improve health of malnourished preschool children |
Soy- poha laddu is recommended by VNMKV, Parbhani for treatment of malnutrition among vulnerable group and underweight people. It is rich in Protein (14 gm), Calories (512 kcal), Calcium (60 gm) and iron (5.62 mg). |
15 |
To assess the suitability of different types of wheel hoe for weeding and intercultural operation. |
Wheel hoe weeder is manually operated equipment for weeding. Light weight, simple to operate which improves the work posture and also reduces the drudgery of the women worker. This demonstration is planned to reduce drudgery of the farm women. |
16 |
To assess the suitability of mittens during harvesting of Okra and Brinjal. |
Okra and Brinjal mitten is a manually operated during harvesting. This OFT is planned to create awareness for use of mittens. This shall prevent injuries to the hand & palm and enhance the work efficiency. |
